NDM baseline assessment: learner response

WWW: Clearly written, covering both sides of the argument.

EBI: You need to cover institutions more + their involvement : Pareto's Law, Google etc. Should be at least one more page longer.

  • Developments in new/digital media mean that audiences can now have access to a greater variety of views and values. To what extent are audiences empowered by these developments?

Technology has been a huge part developments in the new/digital media in many ways causing it to develop into a platform where different views and values are freely being said and have started to emerge, this allows audiences to empowered by these developments. Institutions such as Google is available to audiences 24/7, as a search engine it allows the users/producers of the internet to make and search anything they would like. Pareto's Law can be fitted into his because Google being a search engine that is only a minority of media producers, it serves a majority of consumers. The fact that Google allows consumers to search anything on the internet can be dangerous because audiences would have the access to things like pornography and they are a lot of young viewers that can access things like which is dangerous and this does show that they are downsides to the internet as there is less censorship online. This can support the fact that at some areas of the developments in the new/digital empowers  the audiences but also they are not being empowered in some cases.
